How collaborative networks make a difference

icebauhaus operates in an ever-growing international network and offers support to local drivers and their ideas as they are expected to devise solutions to local and global challenges within a regional context. As part of several informal and collaborative settings icebauhaus has access to an eclectic mix of conceptual and increasingly practical local initiatives, company start-ups and inspired and curious individuals around the world. Our work is primarily project-based and community oriented. As a principle, we design content and formats of our projects together with our partners, based upon impulses and requirements from our network. Our members are experts within various academic disciplines, entrepreneurs and generalists with a great deal of background experience in international cooperation.

> icehubs are community driven technology innovation spaces with a strong social and environmental commitment. The hubs promote the development of home-grown products and services and bring together a diverse community of action-oriented thinkers and doers. icehubs are autonomous, locally managed and financially self-sustainable. These hubs offer facilities and activities to foster community building, networking and collaborative learning. icehubs are politically and religiously neutral.

> Global Innovation Gathering (GIG) is a vibrant, diverse community of innovation hubs, makerspaces, hackerspaces and other grassroot innovation community spaces and initiatives as well as individual innovators, makers, technologists and changemakers. GIG is pursuing a new vision for global cooperation based on equality, openness and sharing. GIG aims to enable more diversity in the production of technology, and global innovation processes and support open and sustainable solutions developed by grassroot innovators.

> r0g_agency and communities for open culture: As a collaborative and internationally networked organisation, r0g supports sustainable and hybrid forms of cultural innovation and social enterprise in regions undergoing rapid and fundamental transformation. Following a philosophy of ‘open knowledge for open societies’ r0g_agency acts to put into practice the mechanisms of sustainable open source methodologies using appropriate and community-based technologies.

icebauhaus together with r0g_agency supported the jHUB community of South Sudan organising #PeaceHackCamp.

Regional intergration and loacl trainers are our basic and simple concept.

Global Innovation Gathering (GIG) is a vibrant community of innovation hubs, makerspacesand other grassroot-communities as well as individual technologists and changemakers icebauhaus is also involved.

Different communities and networks often met at and around the annual re:publica conference in Berlin.

Bringing our partners on stage and facilitating their experiences is better then teaching our theories.

Our base is in Weimar, Germany where we have a good realtionship to the Bauhaus University and bring in our ideas and partners into the academic discourse.
