The “Assela” project carried the vision of supporting young running talents everywhere in Ethiopia through a new mobile app.
For young talented athletes, becoming a running champion is a unique career opportunity, but for those who live in remote areas of Ethiopia it is still difficult to have a chance of proving their running skills.
The training app was developed from scratch through a user centered design process including a thorough usage context and user needs research phase.
The ap provides knowledge about running, support for personal training and community functions to share and compare their running performance and experience with others.
The initial mockup prototype was tested with representatives of the target user groups in Ethiopia to gain feedback for its improvement.
Local IT developers were invited in Addis Ababa to an interactive crash-course and on state-of-the-art technologies and methods to discuss lopcal relevance and impact.
