The Global Innovation Gathering is an annual meeting of tech hubs, fab labs, maker spaces and innovation centres from all over the world. As the central physical nodes of local innovation ecosystems, these spaces came to represent the technological innovations of their respective home countries – and so now, for the third time, GIG was inviting them in May to Berlin to share their ideas and stories, successes and failures with each other.
icebauhaus was part of the party and hosted a barcamp event about the topic of ict4ag. What are the challenges? How do farmers in Africa, Asia and Latin America interact with technology? Is there actual demand for the solutions that are being suggested? Would farmers ask for other solutions if they better understood the technological opportunities? How to bridge the gaps between urban IT-developers and rural target groups? Which successful business models have actually been designed around the tech solutions and why are they successful?
